04.October.2017 * To forgive is not to forget. The merit lies in loving in spite of the vivid knowledge that one that must be loved is not a friend. There is not merit in loving an enemy when you forget him for a friend. (Mahatma Gandhi)

Mohandas K. Gandhi

Matthew 5:38-48New Living Translation (NLT)

Teaching about Revenge

38 “You have heard the law that says the punishment must match the injury: ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I say, do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also. 40 If you are sued in court and your shirt is taken from you, give your coat, too. 41 If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles. 42 Give to those who ask, and don’t turn away from those who want to borrow.

Teaching about Love for Enemies

43 “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. 44 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! 45 In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. 46 If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. 47 If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. 48 But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.

(CNN) Every detail of this indiscriminate mass murder seemed meticulously planned.

The selection of a hotel room overlooking a music festival, days before the attack. The cache of 23 weapons inside the gunman’s Las Vegas suite. And thousands of rounds of ammunition — plus an ingredient used in explosives — inside the killer’s home and car.

The latest revelation came Tuesday afternoon when police said gunman Stephen Paddock set up cameras inside his hotel suite and in the hallway. Police are not aware whether the devices were transmitting — the FBI is investigating their use — but the Clark County sheriff told reporters he thinks the shooter might have used them to watch for people approaching his room.

Six years on, consequences of the disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant continue to uncover. Scientists say they’ve found new and “unexpected” source of radioactive material dozens of kilometers away from the site.

New radioactivity has been discovered in salty groundwater and sands beneath beaches up to 100km away from the disaster site, according to the findings published in ‘Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences’ journal on Monday.

Researchers from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) in the US and Japan’s Kanazawa University revealed high levels of persistent cesium-137 in eight beaches, sampled for the study between 2013 and 2016.

These levels turned out to be up to 10 times higher than levels in seawater of the power plant harbor, according to the press release on the WHOI website.

“No one expected that the highest levels of cesium in ocean water today would be found not in the harbor of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, but in the groundwater many miles away below the beach sands,” one of the researchers, Virginie Sanial, said.

Tom Petty died on Monday night, but inaccurate news of his death made its way around the internet much earlier in the day.

According to Tony Dimitriades, longtime manager of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, the legendary rocker “died peacefully at 8:40 pm PT surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends” after suffering cardiac arrest.

That was hours after some media outlets had already reported on his death — a mistake that prompted one of Petty’s daughters to vent her anger about it on social media.

An Instagram account believed to belong to AnnaKim Violet Petty featured a post with a blistering message to Rolling Stone magazine, which reported Petty had died on Monday afternoon.

“My dad is not dead yet but your f***ing magazine is,” the post read.

“How dare you report that my father has died just to get press because your articles and photos are so dated,” Petty added with a picture of her father on the cover of a 1980 issue of Rolling Stone. “This is my father not a celebrity. An artist and human being.”

CNN)When retiree Stephen Paddock checked into his 32nd-floor suite at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino last Thursday, nothing appeared unusual.

Paddock had booked room 32135, described by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Joseph Lombardo as one large suite with uninterrupted views of the Las Vegas Strip.

The former accountant would’ve had a clear view of the Route 91 Harvest festival, a three-day country music event taking place in an open-air, ground-level venue across the Strip, some 400 yards away from his hotel.

On Sunday night, as the crowd of about 22,000 people listened to headliner Jason Aldean below, Paddock smashed two windows of his suite — one in the front and one on the corner — and fired into the crowd, ultimately killing 58 and injuring hundreds of others.

Authorities on Tuesday released the first body camera footage of police responding to the Sunday’s mass shooting in Las Vegas. Officers were seen hunkering down behind a wall facing Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino after an initial volley of shots fired by the gunman later identified as Stephen Paddock.

The footage shows officers telling people to get down as police try to figure out where the rounds are coming from, said Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Undersheriff Kevin McMahill.

After realizing he and his wife had stayed in the same Las Vegas suite where gunman Stephen Paddock fired shots at a country festival Sunday night, a North Carolina man posted a video he took of the rooms during their stay last year.

Paddock shot at a crowd of about 22,000 people attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival as country star Jason Aldean was performing, killing 59 people and injuring 527 more. Paddock was in suite 135 on the 32nd floor of the hotel when he unleashed a hailstorm of bullets.

On Monday, Jeff Bridges of Charlotte, North Carolina, posted a video that showed he and his wife’s stay at Mandalay Bay last year. “Andrea and I stayed in that EXACT same room last year on the 32nd floor! Room 32-135,” the post reads. The nearly five-minute video narrated by Bridges gives a tour of the suite, including a final look at the concert area. “The video ironically ends with a view down on the concert area,”
